Sharon FWhat does common ground mean in a relationship? What does rapore mean? Not sure if I spelled ra-pore right. TY
';';Common ground'; is a metaphor for shared interests, values, goals, and beliefs. The metaphor is that a relationship is built upon the ground you occupy together, so when there are things you have in common, that can be a foundation.

';Rapport'; refers to ease of communication, when two people feel comfortable and open in talking to one another, rather than suspicious, confrontational , bored, or tense.What does common ground mean in a relationship? What does rapore mean? Not sure if I spelled ra-pore right. TY
common ground means a place to start...or that you are on the same page...for instance in a relationship there is give and take...sometimes you give more than you take or vice versa. people commonly advice (esp during an argument) that in order to solve a problem you must find ';common ground'; / ';be on the same page'; ...more or less it means you both have to come to a mutual decision not just to give in but to understand the other person and except the results. rapport is simply conversing with someone. i work in a call center and we are graded on the over all rapport with the customer. it relates to how you interact with them - tone, verbiage, understanding, and interaction....hope this helps...after all it is 5:30am =o]
it's spelled rapport. Basically means relationship, connection.

And it's spelled ';rapport';.
Generally speaking ';common ground,'; would be things like both wanting marriage and kids, having the same goals in life, some interests in common etc. I have never heard of ';common ground'; in a family or friendship, only in relationships and usually relationships that are at least potentially serious.

I think you might be talking about ';rapport'; which is pronounced ra-pore - basically it is understanding between people; as in a meeting of the minds or a connection between them. ';Teachers often seek to have good rapport with their students because it facilitates learning.';
As much time as I spend fighting and defending I am practically a hypocrite for saying that I love peace, but I do. The first step to developing a peaceful union is to find the

Reciprocity= equal exchange

Common Ground= See Reciprocity. A equal stance on any particular issue. I like to think of scales of justice, equally balanced.

Rapport= is something that is more of a charismatic type of thing, where the person is comfortable, relaxed and able to listen. Trusting. Confidence.

Hope this helps! Take Care!-Rachel.
Common ground is when you can find something in common with the other person. When you can find a common ground you will develop a repoire (or however it is spelled) with that person. A repoire is when you can carry on a conversation with another person.
Common ground and rapport--

Basically you are communicating and getting along with another individual. If doesn't have to be a romantic relationship.
